In the transformative landscape of electric vehicles, collaboration between pioneers is key to accelerating electrification.
As a front-runner in automotive components, Aisin faces the challenge of accelerating vehicle electrification while ensuring reliability and efficiency. Recognizing the need to stay ahead in the electric vehicle (EV) market, Aisin has been looking for technologies that not only support but enhance its electrification efforts.
Extensive benchmark led Aisin to Elonroad's solutions
After extensive benchmarking of Electric Road Systems (ERS), Aisin selected Elonroad’s conductive rail technology as the optimal solution to drive their electrification forward. Our conductive rail system stands out for its efficiency and scalability, making it the ideal choice for forward-thinking companies like Aisin.
To fully leverage this technology, Aisin created their own electric road-testing ground in Mons, Belgium. This facility enables the rigorous development and seamless integration of their advanced onboard charging equipment, crucial for the next generation of electric vehicles.
The electric road in Mons
The system delivers a continuous power output of 300 kW at 90 kph for trucks and 100 kW at 130 kph for vans or cars.
The installation process was a collaborative effort that spanned two days. The milling process commenced on the morning of June 12th, 2024, and the final rail was laid at 19:15 on June 13th. The installation team consisted of five members from Elonroad, Sweden, two from Elonroad, France, and four from Infracare, along with a dedicated truck/crane operator. Aisin also provided on-site support with 3-4 personnel, although they were not directly involved in the installation process.
The 750-meter Elonroad electric road installation at Aisin’s test site in Mons has set a new standard in vehicle electrification. This electric road is instrumental for Aisin to refine its product offerings and accelerate the testing process, benefiting not only Aisin but also its partner OEMs throughout Europe.
Mr. Shizuo Abe, Chief Electric Leader at Aisin, on the installation: "Partnering with Elonroad was a strategic move to embrace a future proof technology that aligns with our vision for electric mobility. This test track in Mons is crucial for advancing our electrification solutions and I am so satisfied by how easy it was to install."
Per Löfberg, Senior Project Leader and coordinator at the site on Elonroad’s behalf shares his thoughts around the installation: “It has been a joy. This installation is ideally located, and Aisin are an ideal partner to work with. Together we are - in the middle of Europe - showcasing a technology that will revolutionize transport. The system is very smooth to install. This installation will create ripples and we expect many visitors from both the private and public sector.”
The partnership goes beyond mere technological installation; it embodies our shared commitment with Aisin to innovate and drive the automotive industry towards a more sustainable and efficient future.
As we continue to lead the charge in building a cleaner, more sustainable world, one road at a time, the road in Mons serves as a move forward for potential future collaborations and technological advancements.
